Modern day carnival

Clun Carnival celebrated its 150th year in 2022 and is still going strong today. Held on the first Saturday in August the show kicks off with a carnival procession parading around the town which ends with the crowning of the Carnival King or Queen before everyone makes their way onto the historic castle grounds for the show. The show differs slightly each year but contains the Show Tent where everyone’s hard work is displayed with children’s entertainments, historic vehicles, dog show and a wide variety of crafts and stalls on the grounds.

Many events are also held in the days preceding the show day – from treasure hunts, the infamous multi terrain Clun Carnival Canter to carnival luncheons. More information and up to date information on this year’s show can be found on the Carnival’s Facebook page “Clun Carnival”.
