Clun Valley Good Neighbours

Clun Valley Good Neighbours Scheme

Report for Parish meeting 18th May 2024

The highlight of this year was the award to Good Neighbours of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, equivalent to an MBE. The Award seeks to recognise groups that are volunteer driven, making an outstanding impact in their local community, and when viewed across the UK, exceptional at a national level. We are very proud of this. The committee were presented with the award and certificate by the Princess Royal in April. These can be viewed in the Davies’ window on Clun High Street at the moment. Almost all of our 60 volunteers came to a lunch attended by Lord Lieutenant Mrs Anna Turner and her Deputies in March. Chrissie Verduyn and Mary Eminson attended the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on 8th May on behalf of the group.

We have continued with high levels of activity in our 3 volunteer groups. The Helpline runs 9-1pm on weekday mornings to respond to various requests including transport to appointments and collection of shopping and prescriptions. Good Friends befriending service will be submitting their own more detailed report. The Clun Friendly Cafe meets on alternate Friday afternoons at Haslehurst. All are welcome for chat, tea and cake.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Chrissie Verduyn, Chair for more information on: chrissie.verduyn@btinternet.com
