Clun Walks Book Group
Clun Walks Book Group Report for the Annual Parish Meeting 2024
Clun Valley & borders 33 favourite walks was first published in 2011 and reprinted twice.
About 5,000 copies were sold and all proceeds, about £5,000, were donated to local good causes.
By the end of 2022 the current stock was running down and it was becoming obvious that a thorough review of the walks was needed as, in the intervening years, some walk details had inevitably changed.
During the last 18 months members of the Clun Walking Groups have been busy walking and re-walking all 17 routes and their variations. With considerable help from Shropshire Council, stiles have been repaired or replaced, and paths cleared. The text was up-dated and a new cover, showing a splendid photograph of Clun Castle, was created. We would like to thank Clun Town Council for their grant which covered the printing costs of the new edition.
The book was launched in March in time for the start of a new walking season and is now available in the shops and cafes of Clun and further afield in Bishop’s Castle, Knighton, Craven Arms, Ludlow and on-line.
Initial sales have been very good and as before, all profits will be made available for local charities and good causes.
