River Clun Monitoring Group

River Clun Monitoring Group report for Annual Parish Meeting May 2024

1. The RCMG was formed over 3 years ago by Dave Lewis to monitor the water quality of the River Clun. The aim of the group is to help promote good water quality and biodiversity of the Clun catchment.

2. There are now 7 groups with equipment, measuring at 15 sites in the Clun catchment with at least 30 trained volunteers.

3. The data is shared with the public and sent to the Environment Agency and SWT. We measure water turbidity, flow, invertebrates and chemistry such as phosphate, nitrate, ammonia, oxygen.

4. We are forming a new steering group which is chaired by Brian Angell.
