The Future of Clun Mill

Clun Mill (YHA) is up for sale. Hopefully a similar organisation may purchase it. However it may be sold for a complete change of purpose which would impact a unique community asset.

The Youth Hostels Association (YHA) has announced that it is taking a step back from the management of a third of its properties in England and Wales. Twenty of these youth hostels have been put up for sale, including Clun Mill Youth Hostel.

The YHA state: “This is an exciting opportunity for local people, communities, partners and enterprising individuals to acquire the sites and, working with YHA, provide brilliant accommodation under the youth hostelling umbrella.”

The YHA envisage this will happen under a franchising arrangement, but it is clear from the sales particulars that the continuation of the provision of hostel style accommodation is not guaranteed and that they are open to sales for “alternative uses.”
